Diamond (Rings) are a Girls Best Friend
Nothing thrills me more than finding a track that I can listen to incessantly until I can’t even bear it anymore. What’s even more thrilling? Finding a whole album that I can listen to non-stop, knowing that every song is going to be worth my while. I thought I struck gold when I came across Diamond Rings track, Something Else, but really I hadn’t even hit the surface.

After reading a little bio of Diamond Rings, AKA ‘John O’, I developed much admiration towards his vulnerability as he shared growing up he never really felt like he had a place where he belonged. Being a student of Psychology, I love taking over-analyzation to the extreme, and, of course, I love vulnerability so I bought his album to see what John O had to offer. Little did I know, this was one of my greatest decisions of all times.
I love how O’Regan brings his high school insecurities into his music (don’t pretend you’re past those issues!) but still maintains a positive and cheery vibe in his upbeat melodies. O’Regan talks, in his biography, about never truly being able to identify with anyone as he didn’t feel he belonged with the jocks but because he played sports was never able to identify with the goths. This is definitely played out in Play By Heart as he shares “Trying to keep my balance living doubles lives. Covering my conscience with a new disguise” or in On Our Own (one of my personal favs) “Trapped in transit never where I want to be”

But enough about emotion. Bottom line, buy this album! You won’t regret it, and your positive mood will increase significantly. But if your not in the mood to purchase an entire album than I will at least suggest you check out Something Else, On Our Own, and All Yr Songs. And can we talk about that makeup for a second? Jealous. I believe his makeup artist and cousin, Lisa, deserve a big kudos for that.
