Thirsty for a Good Cause
I wouldn’t normally blog about a charity. When it comes to charity organizations, I’m not a fan. Quite frankly, I think it can be somewhat pretentious when organizations throw huge parties and give a measly 1% of their fundings to the actual charity. It seems a little dumb to put my money (which I don’t really even have that much of anyways) in an organization when I don’t even truly know where that money is going. While this is a huge generalization, it’s generally my opinion.

But last night I had the opportunity to listen to an amazing speaker who is also the founder of Charity Water. Unlike any organization I’ve ever heard about, Charity Water gives 100% of their fundings to the actual cause. Whhaa? That’s crazy, right? After learning about the water crisis, which admittedly I knew nothing about, my heart went out to those struggling to get water everyday. Charity Water has done some pretty cool things in New York, they’ve worked with Sacs Fifth Ave., Tom’s shoes, and Will and Jada Smith have also become involved. If you’re feeling charitable, buy an e-card to whose proceeds go straight to building wells in developing countries; or if you’re really feeling charitable, give up your birthday and ask friends and family to donate your age in dollars to Charity Water. Or if don’t have that much to give, like me, grow a beard for clean water, ride a bike for clean water or just check out their cool website! www.charitywater.org
